PLANTING ON THE WERRIBEE RIVER VOLCANIC GORGE Fri. 17 & Sat. 18th July
Pinkerton Landcare and Environment Group members are continuing with restoration of the beautiful volcanic gorge section of the Werribee River. This project commenced in 2004, and much has been achieved with removal of weeds, rabbit control and fencing, enabling the native species to thrive.
We use only plants grown from local seeds collected by the group members, to give them the best start in this dry region. As a consequence the birds, wallabies and platypus are thriving.
We plan to plant over two mornings at different sections of the river on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th July, both days, from 9 am -12 noon. Meeting at Western Water Recycled WaterTreatment Plant car park at 8.45am, (as we will need to travel in convoy down to the river. Melway 2006, Map C4, ) The Treatment Plant is located about one km along Butlers Road, from Greigs Road, Mt. Cottrell 3024.
Everyone is welcome for as long or short a time as they wish. Morning tea is provided.
This activity Is supported by both Melbourne Water and Western Water.
