Description

Our next working bee date is on Sunday 10 September 2017 from 9am -12 noon.

We wish to implement a Bird Life Australia grant to increase the biodiversity of a wildlife corridor (Pinkerton Link) between Pinkerton Forest and Mulla Mulla Grassland - which involves creating a forest! The purpose of the grant is to protect & expand habitat for the endangered Diamond Firetail. The native grasses have already spread by self seeding, however the annual grasses need to be weeded between them to enable the contractors to clearly identify the native grasses.

A recent sighting in this section of Pinkerton Link identified a Crested Shike-tit,  White-plumed Honey-eaters, Horsfields Bronze-cuckoos, Superb Fairy-wrens, Black-shouldered Kite, Red-rumped Parrots, Eastern Rosellas, yellow-rumped Thornbills, Whistling Kite, Brown Falcon, Tree Martin, Flame Robin, Jacky Winter etc  so we know the Link is already effective. We may even see the resident nesting pair of Wedge-tailed Eagles!

A unique opportunity to help create a forest!

Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy this naturally beautiful area.

Participants meet at the Mt. Cottrell Road gate entrance to Pinkerton Forest (with the green Land for Wildlife sign attached), see Melway reference Map 221 H 7.
