Description

Our next working bee date is on Sunday 22 July 2018 from 9:20 am -12:30 pm.

We are planning to implement the second stage of the combined CMA/WW grant, restoring the native grassland above Pinkerton Flat.

The native grass seed has been purchased, and now the site needs further preparation (the main weed control has already taken place) before it can be broadcast. We plan to visit the site, undertake some weed control, and collect in a trailer the dead melaleuca branches stacked at Surbiton Park, and take them to the grassland. The spreading branches are used to cover the grass seeds to prevent them blowing away on this exposed windy site, and at the same time provide a microclimate for germination.

Afterwards, we will go on an exploratory walk.

Participants meet at the Mt. Cottrell Road gate entrance to Pinkerton Forest, see Melway reference Map 221 H 7.

Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy this naturally beautiful area.
