To continue with the restoration of Pinkerton Link, we are planning to plant on Friday 17th and Sunday 19th June in the morning from 9-12 noon.
We will meet at 9am at the gate with the green Land for Wildlife sign attached, on Mt. Cottrell Road, Melway map 221 H7.
If arriving later in the morning please shut the gate behind you, when driving down the track for 300m you will see the open area of Pinkerton Link directly north of Pinkerton Forest.
The local Grey Box trees will be planted in ideal conditions, into the directly seeded native grass understory created by Greening Australia over the past few years. The small birds will not only be able to land on the future trees, they will also have access to their food, the native grass seeds.
This planting will further the aims of this ambitious project of restoring the grassy woodland link between the mature woodlands at either end of the paddock, Pinkerton Forest and it's extension, the woodland in Mulla Mulla Grassland.
Morning tea is provided.
Everyone is most welcome to join us on this ambitious project.

Cobbledicks Ford Reserve, Mt. Cotterell
On Saturday morning of 14 July, 9 am - 12 noon, you are invited to join PLEG in planting beside the Werribee River at Cobbledicks Ford Reserve, Mt Cotterell.
Wyndham Council has transformed this beautiful reserve by planting local native plant species, especially adapted for the low-rainfall volcanic plains
Pinkerton Landcare and Environment Group members have been collecting the local native seeds from native grasses, which are grown to maturity by GAGIN, and then re-planted on the flood plain, restoring it as a thriving understorey, which also has the benefit of providing seeds for birds, such as red-browed finches and holding the soil down with strong roots during flooding events.
Everyone is welcome to join us, any time between 9am - 12 noon, on Saturday 14th July.
Meet at the bottom of the hill in the car park.
Melway map 227 B 10
Bring your favourite spade if you wish, however, planting equipment will also be available as well as gloves.
Morning tea is provided, and during the break, a landcare member will describe the birds and animals which are dependent on the native grasses which we will be planting, and the volcanic gorge ecology.
